Emma Hogan

Data Analyst and Activity Leader at the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC)

    Presentation Title:

High Performance Partnerships: Novel Technology in High Performance Computing

    Presentation Synopsis:

In an era of increasing data proliferation, and compute and data intensive applications, investment in many-core R&D, High Performance Computing (HPC) software design and I/O optimisation are required to exploit hardware parallelism, scale-up processing and reduce time to solution. The Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) operates Ireland’s national HPC service and provides compute resources, and software and domain expertise for research communities and industrial partners. In this talk, ICHEC’s approaches to modernising software for the next generation compute platforms, in domains such as material science and weather forecasting, will be briefly explored. Novel approaches to the challenges of data-intensive applications, with examples in the Oil & Gas domain, will also be briefly presented.
