User Generated Content : Impact on the Hotel Industry

Presentation Synopsis: Take 2.6 Billion people and give them the technology to create blogs, comments, reviews, photos, and videos in the palm of their hands, and you have an understanding of the capabilities of 2.6 billion smartphone users in the world. I will be speaking about how technology is impacting the Hotel Industry in the form of User Generated Content. Whether you work in a Hotel, Retail, Leisure or any industry selling an experience, the term User Generated Content is one you need to get familiar with.

Speaker Bio:

At 26 years old Louise is one of our youngest speakers. At the age of 9, Louise began building computers, and coding simple computer games. For the past 10 years she has been using social media to promote businesses; she has worked as marketing manager for Irish Retail Chain Paco Store, launched two start-ups, built two very successful eCommerce websites, and worked in digital communications for the University of Limerick, and is currently working as a Digital Account Manager in Irish Tech Company Avvio. Avvio is an International Hotel Booking Engine Provider who also do Web Design, Digital Marketing, and Social Media Consulting for Hotels. Louise has a BEng in Video & Sound Technology, a BSc in Audio & Video Production and an MSc in Marketing Consumption and Society. A prominent advocate for Social Media, Louise wrote her master’s thesis on data mining using sentiment analysis to explore perception of a topic on twitter over a period of time.
