Mel will talk about moving from a healthcare system centred on facilities to one driven by the patient. He will talk about encouraging collaboration, making services user-centric, as well as the importance of usability and accessibility.
Speaker Bio:
A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Mel has over thirty years experience in computing, quality management and professional services both in Ireland and the United States. In 2002, he founded OpenApp, a healthcare informatics company developing patient-centric platforms to improve care. Mel has led on the concept and design of software underpinning Health Atlas Ireland, the National Quality Assurance Intelligence platform, the Health Service Executive’s CompStat, the RTÉ Player website, a European Cystic Fibrosis Registry and Aero-Medical Air Ambulance Support. He is a passionate advocate of all things open and is currently Non-Executive Director at OpenForum Europe.
